Why I Write

It all begins with an idea. Or in my case, a bunch of ideas. There are so many things that aren’t talked about or maybe just not talked about enough. So I started brainstorming. I started writing about my brand of advocacy. A thoughtful and collaborative approach. Then I expanded that into developing a reference that may help parents through the stages of advocacy, from beginning to student self-advocacy.

So what comes next? I am continuing to research topics where the gaps exist. I have outlines on a book series on disability, sexuality and relationships. I am working on research into a project that focuses on the nitty gritty of transition and life long realistic support for single parent and economically disadvantaged families.

I write to fill a space that I have had to sit in. Or that I have seen first hand friends and clients struggle in.

Are there things you wish you knew? Or still don’t know? Let me know in the comments.
